Here you are at that time of life you always dreamed of...retirement. Retirement seemed to be a time when life began again. You are planning to travel, spend time with grandchildren, watch all your favorite daytime television shows, and reconnect with old friends.. including your spouse.
After a couple of months of indulging in a new life, the reality of retirement may not be all that you envisioned. The loss of daily expectations and responsibilities can leave one with an opportunity to redefine life purpose. Living with your spouse 24 hours a day versus 12 hours seems like a dream, until you realize that over time, you both have developed new needs, expectations, and life routines that filled in the time away.
While retirement can be a dream come true, try to avoid being disenchanted when at first time is needed to put the puzzle pieces together into a new and different daily plan. If you feel you need a little support along the transition journey, reach out to one of our skilled life coaches who would be delighted to encourage and support you along the way.
